Tire rotation: why is it so important?
Rotating your tires extends their life, in addition to giving you better performance. Here are some tips to help you prolong the life of your tyres.
Recommendations
Most manufacturers recommend rotating your tires every 10,000 to 12,000 kilometres. However, you can also do it every six months to ensure that your tires wear evenly and thus help them last longer.
How do I go about it?
For best results, we recommend using one of the following methods:
- For better traction, swap the two front tires with the two rear tires. Then, in the front, reverse the left tire with the right tire;
- To optimize the propulsion of your vehicle, do the opposite: swap your rear tires with your front tires. Afterwards, reverse the position of your rear tires; the one from left to right, the one from right to left;
- If you have a four-wheel drive vehicle, swap your front tires with the rear ones. Then reverse, front and back, those on the left with those on the right;
- Finally, if your tires have a unidirectional type tread (i.e. if their tread has a distinct rolling direction), you only have to exchange your front tires with your rear tires . It is useless to reverse the right with the left in this case, since this type of tire is designed to be installed on a particular side of the vehicle.
The ideal switchover type for your needs
Note that if your average mileage is low, we recommend a front-to-rear rotation every six months or 5000 kilometers for better performance. In addition, we advise you to come and see us to determine the ideal type of changeover depending on your vehicle and your driving habits. There are so many ways to rotate your tires and it might be hard to figure it out.
